DOGE established a separate page on social media platform X named as DOGE SEC today, February 17, 2025. This indicates that there could be a potential audit of the agency by the DOGE.
Exact Purpose of DOGE SEC is Unknown
While Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency has launched DOGE SEC on X, the main motive behind this move, is yet to be to be made public. Officially, DOGE states its mission to uncover waste, fraud and abuse within the government entities.

The establishment of the DOGE SEC X page has fueled speculation about its true purpose. Everybody is aware of the Elon Musk’s criticism of the SEC. According to Musk, the SEC has hindered innovation in the blockchain industry.
Now with this newly created account on X, the community speculates that the account has been created to audit the agency and it is interesting to see that the direct message option has been kept open. There could be a possibility that the Department of Government efficiency is actively seeking information from the whistle blowers regarding fraud, waste and abuse within the SEC.
Musk’s history with the SEC is usually seen with tension. All of this started with Musk’s tweet talking about Tesla private in 2018. With his criticism of the agency and the tension that has been felt throughout the years suggest that DOGE’s audit will be anything but impartial.
