LG Partners with Korean University to Launch Metaverse Campus

LG, via its affiliate, LG Uplus, strikes a deal with Yonsei University of Korea to introduce a metaverse campus named Meta Yonsei. The online campus will play the role of the Sinchon campus belonging to the university, along with its library and auditorium. LG Uplus intends to utilize the project to enhance the learning potential of students. This will help the new generation to connect with metaverse technology.ย

Only the listed students of Meta Yonsei will be able to pass on its attributes to unlisted students on specific properties.ย

The online campus is linked with the universityโ€™s learning management system (LMS), allowing authenticated students to participate in discourses and connect with fellow students.ย

LG Uplus aims to power the campus by enabling students to organize get-togethers, festivals, competitions, and more exciting extracurricular activities. Jeon Seung-hoon of LG Uplus divulged that they will use AI to improve the platform.ย ย

As Park Tae-young of the university notes, the new generation is taking to the online campus like a fish to water, which is an extremely encouraging sign.ย

In 2022, LG is known to have introduced crypto and blockchain to the company, followed by its official announcement of introducing metaverse backing for its smart TVs.ย

LGโ€™s intentions seem to coincide with Lenovo’s and Asusโ€™ aim to create metaverse-related hardware linked to Metaโ€™s Quest headset.ย

With Meta Yonsei setting the stage, it is presumed that others will follow suit.
