At the Hong Kong Consensus Conference held on February 20, 2025, Jason Fang, founder of Sora Ventures, revealed MicroStrategy 2.0 framework specifically designed for the Asian market. The main aim of this initiative is to generate Bitcoin yields through structured processes for retail investors and to enhance the Bitcoin holdings without the complexities of managing private keys.
Metaplanet and its Success
Fang highlighted the remarkable success of Metaplanet, a public company that has very swiftly shifted towards becoming Japan’s largest Bitcoin holder. The partnership between Metaplanet and Sora Ventures demonstrate the effectiveness of this strategy, as Metaplanet’s stock surged over 1,000% following its adoption of the MicroStrategy model. This model leverages Bitcoin as the primary reserve asset, optimizing financial strategies for listed companies across Asia.
Expanding Framework
Sora Ventures on the other hand has also launched a $150 million fund dedicated to replicating this successful framework across various Asian markets, including Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Taiwan, and South Korea. The fund aims to identify companies that can benefit from Bitcoin centric treasury management while navigating unique regulatory environments in each country.
Initiated a Networked Approach
Fang also emphasized that this initiative not only enhances corporate financial position but it also develops a networked approach where companies adopting Bitcoin treasuries can come together and improve on their operation strategies.
Fang is currently exploring partnership with firms listed on Hong Kong Stock Exchange and engaging with candidates from the Stock Exchange of Thailand.
The Bigger Picture for Sora Ventures
The bigger vision of Sora Ventures extends beyond corporate adoption, it has invested in over 30 companies within the Bitcoin ecosystem and supported educational initiative to promote market confidence. The firm’s commitment to driving innovation in blockchain technology position it as a leader in Asia’s changing dynamics in the digital asset landscape.
As regulatory frameworks continues to develop in Hong Kong and beyond, Fang’s insights and strategies are paving the way for integration of Bitcoin into mainstream finance, strengthening Sora Ventures’ status as a key player in this sector.
